Barns by Christopher Morley and Asa Cheffitz "Barns by Christopher Morley. Woodcuts by Asa Cheffitz. Printed by Irving Kinsman Annable of The Berkeley Press of Boston, using the original wood block of the illustration. The paper is the Linweave Text, Ivory, Wove, Plate Finish. This paper gives a very clear & detailed reproduction of this woodcut. A copy of this early Morley essay (this is the first edition) that was published as one item in the 1934 Linweave Limited Editions volume. See A. P. Lee, Bibliography of Christopher Morley (1935), p. 234 #[C-49] for more on this volume & the essay. "Now that I am 23, and grown up at last, and must earn a living and put away childish things (since I have graduated from the university and am ready to begin my real education), I like to think of about my childhood, remembering how undeservedly happy it was. And one of the memories I propose to regale myself withal is that of the Barns I have known." F8- 27 |

1850's drawing of Lugo, Spain coat of arms 4 3/8" x 6 1/8" colored drawing of coat of arms of the city of Lugo in Spain that dates from the 1850's. Came with a ms letter dated May 9, 1853 in Lugo that refers to this drawing that was sent to a Spanish Consul in France for a publishing project. The letter-writer also requests to purchase two copies of the book. This drawing is part of an ensemble that was collected int he 1850's with the intent to publish a book with the coat of arms/symbols of Spanish cities and provinces. It is likely that the project was not completed as Spain entered a long period of internal political troubel from 1854 to 1868. F1- 38 |

1819 North American Sylva Or, "A description of the Forest Trees of North America, Canada and Nova Scotia..." The title continues for 54 words! Compiled by the Frenchman F. Andrew Michaux and printed in Paris by C. D'Hautel, the two volumes are illustrated with 136 handcolored copperplate engravings. The great French floral illustrator Redoute did many of the drawings and the work is distinguished by his artistry. This leaf is of the Red Oak and is one of my favorites. F1- 41 |

1820's Hand Drawn Seals of USA Hanover Spain The seals of Hanover and the USA are inked on a 3 3/8" x 2" paper. The US seal is represented with 23 stars which dates it between 1820 and 1821. Came from the archives of a Spanish Consul that lived and worked in the South of France until the 1850's. He was a collector of seals and these drawings were probably done by him. Third drawing is fo the seal of Spain and in ink. Last one in pencil appears to be related to Order of Saint Lazarus because of the motto "Atavis et armis" or "by the arms of our ancestors". F6- 3 |

Warren Henry computer artwork of Malcolm X. Amazing artwork from an amazing artist: Warren Henry. We worked together at the Sears catalog: me a copywriter, him an art director. The unusual thing was - even at the age of 40-60(?) he sort of became one with the computer and created amazing artwork on Illustrator. This is a printout of one piece. I also have one of Michael Jordan. F13- 4 |
