Description
Cost Case
B 7 LeBreton documents, 17th century, purchased 2/2002 (listed by Laurent as #'s 6, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18). This group was purchased from Laurent in Canada around February of 2002 - B8
$310 RLB
C 25 LeBreton documents. 9 smaller documents from 1615/21 for a total of 15 pages, 3 paper document about 9 1/2" x 11 1/2" for a total of 146 pages from 1627/38. One very large document is 100 pages, 12 parchment documents about 9 1/2" x 11 1/2" for a total of 104 pages from 1627/38.

Laurent believed that some of the parchment documents are copies and list again and again the property of the deceased (Robert LeBreton). The very lengthy paper document repeats six times the same text at one poitn because the announcement of the sale had to be made after mass, three times in three weeks in two different churches.

This group was purchased from Laurent in Canada around August of 2002. - B9

$850 RLB
D 14 (1) 1650 - 1699 Lord of St. Buc court case, 17th century, purchased 8/2002 (14 docs bound together).
1650 to 1699 (with most from around 1684/5) Court Case (Lord of St. Buc.) About 14 17th century documents, mostly parchments, that are part of a legal dispute between a provincial French Lord and a Parisian merchant and banker, with the seizure of property of the Lord, who loses the case. The documents are all intricately bound together with the same twine that binds each of the individual documents.

The bound “package” of documents is about 8 ½” x 11 ½” and has 13 parchment documents for a total of 102 pages, of which 3 are blank, 9 are difficult to read because of the dark brown parchment and 8 have holes. The one document on paper is 10 pages long and of smaller format (7 ½” x 10”). From Laurent in Canada around August of 2002.

Laurent did not mention it, but there were a number of post-it notes with information on them, sprinkled throughout the document. They are as follows:

“Inventory of the property that is being seized from the Lord of St. Buc.”
“ Property sold to Mr. LeChut(?) by candle auction for 4580 livres on March 1685”
“ Sebastian Collin (?), high bidder, takes possession of the house and dependencies of St Buc, June 22, 1650” - B9

$300 LSB
E 19 17th - 18th century documents (19), purchased 2/2003.
About 19 documents from Normandy that are middle 17th to late 18th century copies or transcripts from registries and older documents (1452-). A good mixture of admissions, exploit, contracts concerning inheritances, land sales, recognition of revenue, assignation to make admission and pay taxes, clarification of property ownership and receipt of revenue.

The one 16 page document is a full copy of the 1554 court decision in favor of Robert Varin, Lord of Fourches, that discharges him of the obligation to pay tax on his right of franc-fief.

The remaining documents are as follows: one page (4), two pages (3), three pages (9) and four pages (2). This only counts the manuscript pages.

This group was purchased from Laurent in Canada around February of 2003. - B9

$325 None?
F 7 "Lost" LeBreton Documents, 17th Century, repurchased 3/2003.

I was just a tad late when I originally started buying up the LeBreton documents years ago. Prior to my arrival on the bidding scene and even for a good year after, I recalled a specific buyer snapping a few up. Years later, I noticed this individual beginning to sell his collection and I emailed him asking if he had any LeBreton documents to sell. He came up with 7 of them (some of which apply directly to the case and some that are about relatives):

1608, June 10: paper, 4 pages

This group was purchased from "Durandus" who purchased them from Laurent in Canada. I repurchased them around March of 2003. - B8
