Once upon a time, I met a man who used to own a bookstore. I'm not sure how I met him. Now all I remember is his warm house, filled with books, a shy cat and a wife suffering the ultimate indignity of Alzheimers disease.

The aging bookseller was selling his remaining stock in order to raise money to pay for in-house care, to keep his wife out of a home. I was happy to help.

We became friends and, during that time, he introduced me to the poetry broadside. Many of them are quite beautiful - a marriage of art and literature. Here are some of the best...
