People seem compelled to write about themselves when they create a web presence. I'm no exception - when I first built this thing (years ago), I was all set to create the standard "about me" page.

But around that same time, I came across the following autobiographical line from a random individual's "about me" page: "General overall demeanor: Pretty cool guy with a brain he doesn't like 2 admit."

This was the "about me" description from this poor young man's web site and it is probably one of the saddest and dirtiest things I've ever read. It proves to me that describing yourself on the web is an exercise that can only end in tradgedy.

So, I decided to describe who I am not and let you figure out the rest. What follows are excerpts from web sites of other Charlie or Charles Jensen's:

"Charles Jensen is the author of two chapbooks: Little Burning Edens and Living Things, which won the 2006 Frank O'Hara Chapbook Award and is forthcoming from Thorngate Road. "

"It was Charlie Jensen, Linda’s husband, who recounted how he found his wife’s body when he got home from work on Feb. 24, 1992."

"Charlie Jensen says he can't get enough of the feeling of exhilaration that grips him when he hits a long home run for the Medford Mustangs American Legion baseball team."

"Charlie Jensen Aisle Six, 2001 Metal condom: aluminum rings, plastic cable tie"

"With Ray's help and the help of Charlie Jensen, another teamster neighbor, I made that first year work and what a year it was! ..."

"Five years later, when I had become fully engaged in historical research, Charlie Jensen gave me an account of the massacre of the residents of Nuvuraluaq, one ... "

"Charles 'Chuck' Jensen, age 40, died Monday, May 27, 2002, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska."

" This marks Charles Jensen's second softball Hall of Fame induction. In 1977 Jensen was inducted posthumously into the ASA National Hall of Fame for his long and Meritorious Service to that organization. The Chicago native's softball and baseball umpiring career spanned thirty years."
